Overview
Algeria's citrus-growing regions, particularly around Blida and Boufarik, produce some of the Mediterranean's finest oranges and clementines. Global Fruits Ltd, an international distributor, approached us to establish premium citrus exports to serve markets in Europe, Asia, and the Middle East.
The citrus export business presents unique challenges. These fruits are highly sensitive to temperature fluctuations, require careful handling to prevent bruising, and demand rapid logistics to preserve their peak flavor and nutritional value.
We developed a comprehensive quality program working with select growers who maintained traditional cultivation methods while meeting international food safety standards. Our team implemented specialized washing and waxing facilities, established optimal storage temperatures for each variety, and created packaging designs that protected the fruit during long-distance transport.
The cold chain we established maintains precise temperature control from the moment fruit is picked until it reaches destination markets. This includes refrigerated sorting facilities, temperature-controlled trucking to ports, and specialized containers that maintain optimal conditions during sea freight. The result is citrus that arrives in perfect condition, maintaining the exceptional taste and appearance that Algerian citrus is known for.
